Race Details and Registration
The Nutrithon event is a competition consisting of a 5k/25k/3k duathlon, an 8k run and a 5k run that begins and ends at the NC Research Center. All three events will have a mass start and travel around the roads and greenways that encompass the city of Kannapolis. The races will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2013, with both runs starting at 7:45 am and the duathlon at 9:00 am. USAT Sanctioned The Nutrithon Duathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. All USAT rules will apply.

Race day registration for the 5K and 8K run is also available, and will begin at 6:30am. Day of registration will only accept payment in cash or check.
5K and 8K - 7:45AM
Enjoy a great run around downtown Kannapolis! Both the 5K and 8K run will start at the NC Research Campus and travel around the 8th Street Greenway. The path through the greenway is covered by a canopy of trees and provides runners a peaceful atmosphere with beautiful scenery. The trail is primarily flat. So, come to run fast or enjoy an easy pace surrounded by nature. After the run, stay for a post-race brunch and to learn more about the NC Research Program.
Duathlon - 9:00AM
Want to challenge yourself and become a multisport athlete? This race is perfect for the novice and elite athlete that wants to try something a little different. The first run is 5K in length and utilizes the beautiful 8th Street Greenway. The athletes will then grab their bikes and ride around a 25K loop on the country roads that circle the city of Kannapolis. During the last transition, the running shoes are once again slipped on for a short 3K run to the finish line! Once you have completed the race, you can officially begin your bragging rights as being a multisport athlete! Plan to stay after the duathlon for a post-race meal and learn more about the NC Research Program!
Event Catagories
5K and 8K Runs Both runs will be open to all ages and divided into men's and women's divisions. These categories will be further divided into age groups consisting of five year increments. All youth under 18 must present a signed waiver from their parent or guardian. Download a copy here or pick one up on the day of the event.
Duathlon The participants in the duathlon must choose the appropriate age group, which is based on their age as of December 31, 2013. No one under 15 years old will be allowed to participate in the duathlon. There will be men's and women's division offered, which will be divided into age groups consisting of five year increments. A relay option will also be offered; however, there will be no separate divisions for the relay teams. Per USA Triathlon, all participants in the duathlon must have a USAT license and will be asked to provide their number during the registration process. A one day license of $10 will be included in the registration fee for those participants who do not have one.
Awards Trophies will be given to the top three male and female finishers for all three races. We will award medals three places deep for all age group categories in both the 5K and 8K run. Trophies will be awarded three places deep for all age group for the duathlon. The top three male and female teams in the relay category, of the duathlon, will be awarded trophies.
