Kannapolis Christmas Festival
2013 Celebration of LightsCelebrate Christmas in Kannapolis with the Celebration of Lights. This huge annual event proudly displays more than 250,000 lights and is located at Village Park every night between November 30th and December 30th, however closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Take a stroll through the park and enjoy the light displays shown there. Or you can ride the Winterland Express and see if you can find all the 12 Days of Christmas! In addition to the light displays in Village Park, there will also be other activities each night. You may roast marshmallows and make s'mores, or you can even visit with Santa in his Studio. Mrs. Claus will make special appearances on Wednesday nights so Santa can go get some work done back at the North Pole! Stop by and watch many performances by our very own Kannapolis Singing Bears as they entertain the young and young at heart with their 30 minute Christmas Carol performance every hour beginning at 6:00PM each evening. Or simply enjoy hot chocolate and coffee, both available for purchase at the concession stand. The Winterland Express takes riders through the lights at the park from 6:00-9:30PM. Tickets for the Winterland Express are $2.00 per rider. Kannapolis Christmas Parade of LightsThis year marks the 75th annual Kannapolis Christmas Parade of Lights. This year it will be held on Saturday, December 14 and will start at 6:00PM.

Model Train DisplaysThe Carolinas Division of the Atlantic Coast S Gaugers will be back this year with their 36 foot by 22 foot interactive display. This display is a model train layout in the Community Room as part of the Celebration of Lights activities.
The model train will be on display Friday, December 6; Sunday, December 8; Wednesday, December 11; Sunday, December 15; Wednesday, December 18; Monday, December 23. The display layout features at least three model trains in operation at all times, and eight railroad track center passing yard, and more than fifty buttons that can be pushed by both young and old to operate accessories around the interactive display. Load and unload logs from train cars, operate crossing gates and signals, blow whistles, operate a cattle pen, watch the baggage smasher, make a playground come to life, and even see the dog chasing the mailman, plus much more! The festival includes craft, food, church, business and non-profit agency vendors, carnival rides, inflatables, Santa, the Kannapolis Singing Bears, and a holiday display contest for non-profit and civic agency vendors.

Location: Village Park, 700 West C Street, Kannapolis Nativity NightThanks to The Compass Agency, families can come out early on Saturday, December 21 and enjoy these additional seasonal and holiday activities in the park: A live nativity scene, live choir music, petting zoo, pony rides, vendors and other activities. The Celebration of Lights will begin at 6:00PM that evening.
